Abstract
The demands of the institution, student diversity, and the need to reach out to this entire population are a challenge that necessitates resources, training, and specific guidance in order to respond to new issues that emerge. This reality requires a transformation of schools in compensatory education contexts, a task that does not simply entail changing the curriculum or modifying school tasks, but rather involves a change of philosophy, of methodological strategies, and the structural organisation of the schools. In this situation, counselling departments are created within the institutional space, providing guidance, counselling, and tutorial services, as well as an adapted and diversified curricular offer. These functions must be provided within the general organisation of the school and its Educational Project in order to ensure truly educational operability and functionality. The implementation of this teaching coordination body entails reorganising the way in which secondary schools function and provides an instrument that impacts on decision-making.
